Silk was born in Fredericton located in New Brunswick Canada. She was the daughter of Peter Silk, a professor, as well as Ilkay Silk, a prominent actor as well as a producer, director, educator, playwright as well as Director of Drama of Drama at St. Thomas University. Anna remembers the earliest moments of her existence when she would go to watch her mother perform in play rehearsals. Silk was a part of a variety of commercials as a child. She graduated with a Bachelors degree in Arts in the field of theater at St. Thomas University. Early theater work includes at least two productions in collaboration with Theatre St. Thomas: Seven Menus and The Kitchen. Silk moved to Toronto to pursue her acting profession in November 1999. She then, over the following decade relocated into Los Angeles, California. Seth Cooperman became her husband in 2007, after they met during an Actors' Workshop at Los Angeles. The couple got engaged in 2009, and married in the civil ceremony on December of that year. When she converted to Judaism and they renew their vows in the Jewish wedding ceremony on April 10, 2011.
